[NASCAR2002] N2002 Track Graphics upgrades

Tom has done some superb work adding in all the realistic graphics to the 2002 versions of the N2002 tracks, including the alcohol and tobacco advertising & color correction.

danke fuer die Links,
die updates sehen wirklich gut aus.
Mein favorit ist nunmal der Budweiser Zeppelin
in daytona bei Nacht.
Muss schwer aufpassen, das ich nicht zu oft nach oben gucke.

Sind die Tracks dann eigentlich noch kompatibel in Online-Rennen? Ich hatte da nämlich schonmal so ne komische Meldung bei ner Standardstrecke...

Ich hab das Zeugs noch nicht probiert (-> ISDN), aber ich bin relativ sicher, dass sie es sind. NR2002 speichert (wie schon N4) diese ganzen Strecken-Graphik-Sachen in einzelnen Dateien ab. Und diese werden dann wiederum in die jeweilige .dat-Datei zusammengefasst. Nur der Name und das Format der zu ersetztenden Datei muss stimmen - ist vom Prinzip her das Gleiche, wie bei den Carfiles.

Das sind doch .mip-files oder? Dann ist es doch das gleiche, wie z.B mit den Renntrucks oder den Cockpits.

mir gefällts, ich war mal 1998 in der nähe von Sears Point, sieht so ähnlich aus ja, aber mir hatts gefallen..

Weiß ja nicht, wie die Jungs von den USpits das sehen, aber es wäre im Sinne der Netiquette nicht direkt auf die Daten zu verlinken, sondern auf die Seite, wo man sie runterladen kann.

Bei einigen Leuten sorgen die Track-Addons für lilafarbene Verfärbungen an einzelnen Streckenabschnitten. So auch bei mir. Ich hab mich daraufhin mal mit dem Autor der Updates in Verbindung gesetzt und wir haben versucht das Problem einzukreisen.

I have done more "research" on this problem since your last email.  Here's
what I have found:

1.  I can reproduce the problem on my computers by lowering the screen
resolution to 1040 or lower in 16bit....and by lowering the LOD mipping
level to 0.0 or lower (+3.0 is the lowest possible setting).  This is the
reason I had not seen this problem ....my systems all run 1280x32bit with
a -1.5 LOD setting.  The "purple" doesn't't appear at those settings because
those settings don't allow the lower sum-image mips to ever display (they
are low res, low quality mips...you don't want them to show up unless you
have a slow computer or a GF3 or lower vid card).

2.  At a LOD Mip setting of +3.00 and at 1040x16bit screen res....every
object has the purple color haze.  This means the problem is in the
compression routine for WinMip2.  So, I have turned this over to Klaus
Horbrand, the programmer who created it.  He got your screenshots, plus some
of mine I created with the low res settings.

At this point, there's no "fix" for this issue.  What you can do as
workaround is to run higher resolution, higher mipping levels.  If you have
them set so mip sub-image 5 or higher is always displayed, the purple haze
doesn't appear.  [...]

Please let the others in your league group who have Nv cards, know what to
do for a temporary fix.  In the meantime, I'll inform you what Klaus reports
back to me when I hear from him.  That could be a few days.....
