iRacing Drivers World Championship Series

There are going to be two levels of pro competition for individual drivers within iRacing.com™. In a separate post I wrote about the iRacing.com Pro Series. This post outlines current plans for the premier, highest level of individual pro competition.

We’ll soon be announcing the iRacing.com™ Drivers World Championship Series.

There will be two iRacing jewel series:

iRacing Drivers Oval World Championship Series (iDOWC)
iRacing Drivers Road Course World Championship Series (iDRWC)

Both of the inaugural world championship series will launch in February of 2010 and conclude in January of 2011. The winners of these two world championship series (road and oval) will undoubtedly be the best on-line racers in the world for that year (Oh can you say controversy...)!

The inaugural iDOWC of 2010 will be open to the top 50 point scoring drivers of the 2009 iRacing Oval Pro Series and the iDRWC of 2010 will be open to the top 50 point scoring drivers of the 2009 iRacing Road Course Pro Series.

In 2011 and thereafter these series will be comprised of the top 30 world championship point scorers from the previous year and the top 20 pro series point scorers from the previous year.

Therefore, at the end of October, 2011, the top 20 oval pro series drivers and the top 20 road course pro series drivers will be promoted to the world championships for 2012.

There will be a weekly Inaugural World Championship Series race – alternating between oval and road courses. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 18 races over 39 weeks from February through October annually for both road and oval series. Typically there will be 40-car fields but there could be slightly more or less depending on track.

Each race two-thirds of the available spots will go to the top scoring drivers from the most recent standings. One-third of the available spots on the grid will go to the remaining drivers who have the fastest qualifying times for this race.

Dann sag ich mal: viel Spaß Wolfgang! Ich habs in den letzten Wochen viel zu sehr schleifen lassen, um für dieses Ding auch nur ansatzweise in Frage zu kommen.

Dito... im Moment ist auf jeden Fall ein 3000+ iRating notwenidig, bis es wirklich los geht wirds sicher noch steigen

Ganz und garnicht, du hast ne B-Lizenz und bist derzeit auf Platz 109 was das iRating für RCs angeht. Man muss aber nur unter den besten 250 sein und die SR-Voraussetzung erfüllen, um sich für die Pro Series zu qualifizieren.

Pro Series ja, könnte mir vorstellen das das für mich realistisch ist (bei 250 Teilnehmern)
Drivers World Championship sicher nicht, das sind nur 50 Leute und ich hab weder den Bock noch den Speed noch die Zeit um das anzugehen.
Ich freu mich aber trotzdem drauf ... wenn Huttu mit Towler, McLean, Hackmann usw kämpft, gibt das sicher coole Übertragungen

Ich finde das eine sehr gute Sache. Aber das dadurch deutlich mehr Leute zu iRacing finden werden bezweifle ich. Die Fahrer der "Simracingbasis" die bislang noch kein Mitglied sind bekommt man damit nicht an den Start. Was auch nicht schlimm ist...
