After the release of Patch G Scawen can now continue the development of LFS S2... And to let you all know what's next he has posted a little info @ RSC:
"Now that patch G is out, with its new features and improvements including really good stability and smoothness, i think it's the strongest ever version of LFS. That makes me happy to leave it for a while as i get on with some of the meaty parts of S2 development.
The first thing next week (after a 4 day break) is i'll be back on the suspension development full time. In fact the first stage is to make a movable centre of gravity, and that will allow fuel usage to be easily implemented.
After finishing and detailed testing of the suspension systems (macpherson strut, double wishbone and trailing arm) i'll look and see if any other types need to be done. Then i'll make sure all our cars are updated with the correct / suitable types of suspension.
When the suspension is done, the cars should handle a little better, because the outside wheel won't be gaining camber when you turn into a corner. This should allow softer suspension setups to be used and hopefully will improve the feeling of turning into the corner.
The next stage after that will be tyre wear... then with the fuel usage and tyre wear implemented, i'll need to code up the pit stops system. This will introduce a level of strategy into the racing experience, you will need to take care with tyre wear and fuel usage, drive economically at times and sometimes you may need to change your strategy mid-race. This will give your brain some more things to think about rather than hotlapping every lap.
Well those are the main things for S2. I'm looking forward to trying out all these new things. I'll be very happy when i can drive into the pits and get me a fresh set of tyres!"
